Vindknut was a progressive folk rock band formed in 2007 by Hans and Mats. They played a few concerts before the band was abruptly euthanized after a successful gig at Last Train, Oslo in late April 2010. At the time they had a repertoire of a dozen songs that had been documented, but never got a proper recording that was publishable.

Over the years these unpublished songs have haunted me, and in 2023 I managed to convince Mats and Fred to join forces again to record a full album featuring some of the old repertoire. Hans also agreed to participate in the project on the condition that a few of his newer songs «written in the spirit of Vindknut» also was included.

The result is the album Fata Norgana released in December 2025.
